Greetings! Thank you for considering me as your potential clinical psychologist. Below please find some basic
information about me and my practice. Feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment or if you have
questions. I can also help with referrals to other warm, thoughtful clinicians if the process of finding a
psychologist proves daunting.
Thank you for your time and I hope we can find a time to meet!
Best wishes, Jon
About me: I work with a variety of people whose active, creative lives have been interrupted by depression,
mania, anxiety, mourning, and trauma. Psychotherapy with me is a process of guided expression. Thoughts and
feelings, dreams and fantasies, desires and fears are given voice -- loud, clear, and without judgment. The
experience of formulating authentic verbal and emotional expressions can be transformative in and of itself.
Also, as patterns in your way of being become clear, you can begin to consider alternatives, find courage to
change, and experience what is commonly known as freedom.
I think mental health means developing a Full Self -- a progressive version of you that can love hard and work
hard, understand complex motivations, and experience feelings, including painful ones, without being
overwhelmed. In this process, I draw from extensive, ongoing training in both psychodynamics and
My training began in 2005 at Bellevue's Psychiatric Emergency Room. I was an adjunct professor in a clinical
Ph.D. program for many years and continue to supervise trainees at two college clinics and psychiatry residents
at Mt. Sinai. My publications are in the areas of solitude, loneliness, and personality disorders.
Location: My office address is 117 Dobbin Street between Meserole Ave and Norman Ave, #211B, in Greenpoint,
Brooklyn. The office is on the second floor of Northside Creative Studios. I will provide further instructions for
entering the building when we schedule our first appointment.
Payment: The full fee for a 45-minute session is $250. I'm not in-network with insurance companies; my
patients pay me out-of-pocket. However, some of my patients are reimbursed part of what they pay by their
insurance company. If you want to be reimbursed for our sessions, you should check with your insurance
company to see if your behavioral health plan has out-of-network benefits.
Documents: No need to complete any forms before your first visit; you'll be given copies of my intake forms to
take home. However, these documents do provide useful information about psychotherapy in general and the
way I practice specifically, so they may inform your decision about scheduling a meeting with me. If you would
like to read and complete the intake forms in advance of your session, they are available below.
